FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about deposits, verification, and the limits of the service.

What does a deposit prove?

It proves that a file with a specific hash existed and was available to the depositing account on the deposit date.

What does it not prove?

It does not create copyright, replace legal advice, or automatically prove ownership rights.

Is the file stored?

The original file stays on the server only temporarily. You must keep the original file together with the certificate PDF for future verification.

How do I verify a deposit later?

Open the certificate PDF, take the Certificate ID, and upload the original file again on the verification page. If you open the QR code from the certificate, the Certificate ID is already included automatically.

What should I keep after the deposit?

Keep the original file, the downloaded certificate PDF, and the `.ots` receipt. These are the useful elements for a later verification.

When is it most useful?

It is most useful proactively: before sending files, sharing drafts, signing a contract, or delivering materials to third parties. Sending the certificate or proof alongside the files makes traceability more visible and increases deterrent value.

In short

The system documents a file through a hash, an OTS proof, and a downloadable certificate.

It does not automatically assign rights, but it creates technical proof of prior existence and integrity.

It works best when used before sending files, starting collaborations, or signing agreements, not only after a dispute.

For future verification, keep the original file, the PDF, and the `.ots` receipt with you.

The service provides technical proof of a digital file's existence, integrity, and prior availability through cryptographic hashing and timestamping. It does not replace legal advice, official registration, notarial deposit, or other legal instruments. The certificate does not constitute any guarantee of legal validity, and the platform accepts no responsibility for evidentiary effectiveness, enforceability, or intellectual property protection related to the file. The deposit should be considered an additional technical support element to be evaluated and managed individually under the user's sole responsibility.
